Here it is, the last of August.
The last day of my challenge.
The last post for a while.

Top Ten Books I brought with me to uni - Top Ten Tuesday

August 30, 2016
This weekly feature was created by the lovely gals over at The Broke and the Bookish

Hi cupcakes!

The last Top Ten Tuesday of August is here! And to celebrate school that's starting again, the topic for this week is a freebie concerning "back to school".

Because this was a serious matter for me, I'm sharing with you today ten books (out of many more) that I brought with me to uni that I'm most excited to read!

Well this is different...

You know, I had planned a review for today, but the truth is, I haven't finished a book in a long time and I just moved in my dorm, four hours from home and a review is the last thing on my mind. So instead, I'm gonna write a "traditional" blog post and tell you all about what's going on with me.

I think my third eye needs glasses...

August 28, 2016

Hi cupcakes!

August is almost over, when did that happen?!?!

On another note, I am officially moved in my dorm! It still doesn't seem real, but it's my home for the next eight months...!

Back to the point of this post, here's what you can expect this week:

18 years alive, a lot more to go!

August 27, 2016

Hello cupcakes!

Today's my birthday, which means I've been on this planet for 18 years. I thought long and hard (5 minutes) about what kind of post I wanted to share. While some bloggers (Alexandra, from Twirling Pages) have made some awesome posts with lessons they learned and all of that, I don't have the time nor the wisdom to come up with 18 lessons/advice. Instead, I'm bringing it all back to me today and I'm sharing 18 things that made me proud of myself this past year.

Diversity needs to be more diverse

August 26, 2016

If you're into books, chances are you've heard people talk about the WE NEED DIVERSE BOOKS movement, or at least how there should be more diversity in books, especially YA.

In the last year, we've been seeing more and more diversity, which is great! But it's always the same type of diversity, and I want to address that today.

True words of wisdom

August 25, 2016
Hi cupcakes!
My intention with this post was to make some cool graphics with quotes I find inspiring, but I've been getting ready to move and frankly, making graphics was the last thing on my mind. Instead, you'll have to enjoy the wonderful quotes I picked out for you by simply... reading them!

These 10 books are starting to look dusty... - Top Ten Tuesday

August 23, 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature created by the lovely gals over at The Broke and the Bookish

Hello cupcakes!

This week's Top Ten Tuesday is all about the books that have been on our shelves since before we started blogging.
For my part, that was a little more than a year ago and as I was going through my TBR pile, I was pleased to realized that none of my books had been there for more than a year! So I'm tweaking this week's topic a bit and I'm simply going to share with you ten books that I've owned for quite some time now.

Hello cupcakes!

Is this post late again? Yes it is. Am I sorry? Not really, it's just how things are. Shall we get to the good stuff? Yes we shall!

What to expect this upcoming week

I like clichés, which means I'm not a cliché.

August 20, 2016

Every reader seem to agree on the fact that they don't like seeing clichés in books. We're talking love triangle, the ordinary, boring MC who turns out to be special, the good girl falling for the bad boy...

And then there's me, who actually still enjoys them.

August 18, 2016

Hello fellow demigods!

In case you didn,t know (shame on you if it's the case), todays is Percy Jackson's birthday and in honour of this special date, I decided to do the Percy Jackson and the Heroes of Olympus Book Tag, created a couple of years ago, by Michelle over at The Writing Hufflepuff.

Michelle created the tag in anticipation of the release of Blood of Olympus, the last books in the HoO series. Since the book has been out for quite some time now, I will be skipping some questions, just to let you guys know.

Let's get on with the tag!

Hello students!

In my years as a passionate reader, I've come across many synopses and I like to think I've become an expert in the matter. Therefore, I will be sharing my knowledge with you so that you, too, will be an expert in the art of writing synopses.

August 13, 2016
Conversations is a cool feature created by Geraldine from Corralling Books, and Joan from Fiddler Blue.

Hello cupcakes!

After months of trying to find the opportunity to participate in Conversation, the time is finally here, guys! Conversation is this really nice feature that aims to start conversation through the blogosphere and help bloggers get to know each other a bit more. Pretty cool, right?

Today's topic is:

Do you forget book as easily as you read them?

Top Ten books I'll never read!

August 8, 2016
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created by the lovely gals over at The Broke and the Bookish

This week TTT is kind of a freebie because you get to go back and pick any topic that you like. I decided to go with the top ten books I'll never read.

Most of them are very popular in the book blogging community. Some of them, I said I would read eventually. But the truth is, they simply don't sound that amazing to me, and why bother reading books because they're popular if I could be reading something that really interests me? There are too many books that I want to read to waste time reading books others want me to read.

Here are the top ten books I'll probably never read.

I'm proud of you, cupcakes! -open letter to the blogging community-

The stars are telling me...

August 7, 2016

When I decided to give myself the challenge of writing a post everyday for a month, I didn't want it to be boring. So I chose one weekly feature, decided to review as much books as possible and share some discussions and thoughts, add two or three different posts in there for good measure and do weekly previews. Today will be one of those weekly preview.

The possibility of becoming one of your favorite books

Tell me something new, not a retelling!

August 5, 2016

I haven't read many retelling in my life; one is, in fact, the right number. And I don't plan on reading much more because I have mix feelings about them. Here's why.

What the hell August, what are you doing here?

The raven Boys, AKA the book that didn't live up to the hype

August 3, 2016

- REVIEW - The raven Boys, AKA the book that didn't live up to the hype

Title: The Raven Boys
Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Publisher: Scholastic
Release date: September 18th 2012
ADD IT ON GOODREADS

The Raven Boys has been on my to-read list for a long time and now that I read it, I don't understand the excitement that surrounds it.
The one thing that comes to my mind when I think about The Raven Cycle trilogy is this: over-hyped. Okay, fine, it might not be fair to judge an entire series by the first book, but at the same time, if I'm not hooked right away, why bother to continue?

The main thing that turned me off while reading this book was how unreal everything and everyone seemed. The beauty of books is that they make you believe in made-up worlds and magic creatures, they make you believe that whatever the author chose to write about is possible; real. Maggie Stiefvater? She didn't succeed in making me believe her story.

Firstly, the characters. I'm sorry but as rich as you may be Gansey, I simply don't buy your act, especially when you have other rich friends behaving nothing like you. And Blue? One question: what about school! And that name.. I want to take you seriously, but I can't.

Second, the story. I felt like the plot wasn't going anywhere. I was lost with the whole ley lines story, and I felt like nothing really happened. Stuff did happen though, I was entertained while reading, but I wasn't dying to get back to the book, you know?

Also, the relationship between Blue and Noah was a bit laughable. To me, it seemed to come out of nowhere. Plus, Blue is clearly meant to end up with Gansey, Noah and Ronan are probably gay, and the story about Blue killng her true love if she kisses him? Come on! Give me more explanation because right now it sounds like a fairy tale!

The Raven Boys was entertaining, don't get me wrong. It was far from being bad, but after all the good things I heard about it, I felt let down. To be frank, the book felt more like a first draft of something that could be great.

But hey, I'm clearly in the minority here, maybe I just completely missed the point.

Take care cupcakes!

Sophie

The Raven Boys is far from being a bad book, it's simply another case of "over-hype"...

Books I'd buy right now if you gave me a Chapters' giftcard -TTT-

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely gals over at The Broke and the Bookish.

Do you know when was the last time I participated in Top Ten Tuesday? No but serisouly, I have no clue...

TTT is by far one of my favorite memes in the blogosphere and today's topic was hard because I had to restrain myself from 1: actually buying the books on the following list and 2: sharing more than ten books. That being said, I present to you the ten books I would buy right this second if someone handed me money.
