When I First Saw You #10

February 11, 2016

Hi everyone! I hope your week was good and if it wasn't, well at least it's the weekend is just around the corner, right?

Today is Thursday, which means another episode of WIFSY! For those of you who are new to this blog, WIFSY is a weekly meme created by moi and co-hosted by Izel @ A Bookish Flower and I. It consists of sharing our first impression of a book in the form of a made-up synopsis based on the cover only. Judging a book by its cover, yes.

Learn more about how it works and how YOU can PARTICIPATE here! Also, we have a giveaway going on that you might want to check out here!

Now, I present to you... this week's cover!

DISCLAIMER: I did not write this book, only sharing my first impression of it in the form of a made-up synopsis.

My made-up synopsis

Ricky is at the head of the school paper and every article he writes is always aimed toward a student in particular, the guy who cheated, the girl who got a boob job... For a long time, people have been trying to get Ricky to stop, but since no names are ever mentioned, no one can stop him.

Wendy enjoyed reading the school paper to see who got targeted next, it always made her laugh. That is, until Ricky makes her his next target.

Now, the whole school knows more about her than her own mother and Wendy is determined to make Ricky pay. Armed with her markers and a taste for revenge, Wendy will create the Mystery Comic, an anonymous comic that's secretely distributed every week in the hallways and that will have as main character none other than Ricky.

Wendy's goal is to expose every dirty secrets of Ricky's, but in her quest for retribution, she'll discover more than she imagined. The fight for who could cause the worst damage will lead to something that none of them expected, a truce that will surprise everyone.

The real deal

Trixie Watson has two very important goals for senior year: to finally save enough to buy the set of Doctor Who figurines at the local comic books store, and to place third in her class and knock Ben West--and his horrendous new mustache that he spent all summer growing--down to number four.

Trixie will do anything to get her name ranked over Ben's, including give up sleep and comic books--well, maybe not comic books--but definitely sleep. After all, the war of Watson v. West is as vicious as the Doctor v. Daleks and Browncoats v. Alliance combined, and it goes all the way back to the infamous monkey bars incident in the first grade. Over a decade later, it's time to declare a champion once and for all.

The war is Trixie's for the winning, until her best friend starts dating Ben's best friend and the two are unceremoniously dumped together and told to play nice. Finding common ground is odious and tooth-pullingly-painful, but Trixie and Ben's cautious truce slowly transforms into a fandom-based tentative friendship. When Trixie's best friend gets expelled for cheating and Trixie cries foul play, however, they have to choose who to believe and which side they're on--and they might not pick the same side.

Verdict

I have to admit, I was inspired by a book I read a couple of years back. I can't remember the name, but I remember a guy in the school newspaper and a girl who didn't like him.
Compared to the real synopsis, I was way off, but the real synopsis sounds so sick! I mean, a book talking about fandoms? Why didn't anyone think of that sooner? Alright, there probably are some books already that talk about fandom, but I haven't heard of them so there.
I find the cover really cool too: the colors are vibrant and the scene in the background... Both of them combined give me the feeling that this books will be fun and have a cute love story, which is what I love to read!

I hope you enjoyed this one!

Take care lovelies!
